No More School, by Dan Gelernter, American Greatness, February 24, 2021:

Schools this past year have finally managed to combine teaching nothing with simultaneously keeping children in isolation. Now is the time to dispense with the charade of progressive schooling....

America is having its own Apollo 13 moment. An election stolen from a sitting president, the cowardice of Congress, the moral bankruptcy of the judiciary, corruption of federal agencies, violent mobs in our cities, and compulsory masks on every face. We are trying to sort out what to address, and how. How do we save our freedom? We seem to have more problems than we can possibly handle.

There are a lot of useful suggestions out there—reforms to the judiciary, term limits for Congress, election law reform, and anti-fraud measures. These are important, vital things.... But knowledge is power.....

We have gone on for years imagining that, if we elect the right politicians and vote for the right policies, the nation will be safe even if we hand over the education of our children to the Marxists at the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. Now we’re in trouble. Education is everything....

Things have been bad for at least a generation now, and are getting worse. Instances of left-wing indoctrination are well-documented elsewhere, and most readers have first-hand encounters, or have watched the transformation of their own children and their neighbor’s children as they are taught to hate America... The question is, what do we do about it?....

Schools this past year have finally managed to combine teaching nothing with simultaneously keeping children in isolation. Never has there been a better time to dispense with the charade of progressive schooling. Team up with other families. Take your children out of the hands of professional teachers, and give them a real education. Teach them to love reading. Save America.

What’s ‘No Place For Hate’ actually teaching Colorado kids?, by Will Johnson, Complete Colorado, February 25, 2021:

Coloradans agree that schools should be no place for hate. We should foster bravery and respect and reject bullying and racism....

How do we best achieve these shared goals? A program called “No Place For Hate” (NPFH) implemented in more than 70 K-12 Colorado schools, including 35 in Douglas County, attempts to answer this....

The concerns begin with the program’s requirements. At least 75 percent of students must sign a “pledge” for a school to get the NPFH designation.....

Second, a school that implements the program must cede significant power over its day-to-day operations to an outside national activist group, called the (ADL).

Schools “are expected to notify ADL when any incident of bias, bullying, discrimination or harassment occurs”....

To accomplish that, schools are strongly encouraged to use ADL-supplied curriculum and students must complete three approved activities throughout the year. For example:...

High-schoolers explore how micro-aggressions are “pervasive in everyday life.” They delve into “The Pyramid of Hate” which states that oppression is prevalent in our society and seems to imply that not being “aware of privilege” can lead, on a continuum, to genocide....

... But is the best way to achieve those goals to keep our kids hyper-focused on their differences, tell them those differences determine their identity, and suggest that their identity dictates if they’re a member of either a dominant or victim group?

That message, which NPFH delivers to our kids, is directly contrary to judging someone by “the content of their character.” Do we believe, as many of our kids are being taught, that Martin Luther King’s empowering vision - a cornerstone of our nation’s civil rights movement - was wrong?...

NPFH... encourages teachers to ask students what their gender pronouns are, to present articles and videos on this topic, and to correct students when they don’t use their peers’ chosen pronoun....

Is this a school’s purpose?

The core question here is “what is the purpose of publicly financed education?” Is it to make our kids hyper-aware of their differences and turn them into political activists? Or is it to teach them how to think, not what to think?...
