A Tribute to Dr. John Tanton
On July 16, 2019, John Hamilton Tanton passed from this life after a 16-year battle with Parkinson's disease. See John Tanton's obituary.
After personally knowing him for over 20 years, and, as a world traveler who has witnessed human overpopulation and its devastation of this planet, John Tanton proved himself the most visionary man, along with his wife, Mary Lou, in the 20th and 21st century. His basic foundational drive came from human overpopulation, and that, no amount of immigration would save the third world that adds 83 million, net gain, new babies annually. But it would destroy first world countries.
Look at Canada, Europe and America today being overwhelmed and overrun. That same third world added 4.1 billion people from 1965 to 2019. Those numbers will gain another 3 billion by 2050.
Tanton's voice wasn't just a cry in the wilderness, but he created organizations that are trying to stop endless immigration because of the untenable 'exponential growth factor' that cannot be sustained, and always leads to collapse. One look at the 'catastrophic climate destabilization' gripping the planet right now and it will collapse much life on this planet in this century - Tanton tried to reason, to write, to organize humanity to change course.
For that, he faced vilification by vacant minds and really billions of stupid people, and many ignorant leaders in the USA and worldwide. We face a horrific future that could have been avoided. E.O.Wilson stated that will will lose 1/3 of all animal and plant life because of human encroachment by 2050. We face unprecedented water, energy, resource and arable land collapse.
WSJ's Jason Riley's vitriolic piece on Tanton shows Riely to be an 'innumerate' or mathematically illiterate.
Tanton will go down in history as one of the greatest minds, greatest activists and most decent men in the modern era. When American and all societies begin collapsing from endless growth, the victims will be crying out to God or whomever, but the carnage will accelerate because Mother Nature Always Bats Last.
