Call Rep - ask if they have read the TPP! Important!
Alert date:
10 June 2015
Alert body:
Please phone your member of Congress.
Tell him or her to oppose TPA fast track on the TPP.
Ask if they have even read the TPP!
A House vote is planned on Friday.
The House plans to vote tomorrow on Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), which is fast track legislation. TPA would last for six years and would allow Obama - or a subsequent president - to arbitrarily place just about anything in a trade agreement, including the TPP.
You may have heard of the disastrous Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). It's like NAFTA on steroids. The immigration consequences of the TPP - and of related trade agreements - are profound. You can read about the disastrous TPP here:
This is not just another run-of-the-mill alert. It is extremely important that you make this call.
Please phone your member of Congress.
Ask if they have even read the TPP!
Tell him or her to oppose TPA fast track on the TPP.
When you call, ask if your Representative has read the TPP. (The TPP is kept in a locked room so that the public can not read it. A log is kept of those who read it.)
If your Rep has not read it then point out that a yes vote on fast track will be a yes vote on the TPP that they have not read. If, at the time of their vote on fast track, they say they have read the bill, then either they were lying or they had spent the night speed reading the TPP. Tell them you intend to post their answer on facebook, twitter, and the internet.
